2024 Year-End Update

Hey folks! Rozz here again after quite a long hiatus to, once again, ring in the New Year with some reflection on what this past year’s been like in addition to an optimistic layout of how next year’s projects and plans will go. Obviously, my ideas for how this year was going to go took such a sharp left turn that I think I got mental whiplash. Even though I didn’t get what I wanted finished (or even started), I still accomplished quite a bit in terms of Game Development that I’m proud of. Not only that, but these accomplishments are also the beginning of exciting projects that are yet-to-come. Before we get there, let’s talk about what we’ve done this year.

First-things-first, we started the year by continuing development of Fallout: Not of Planet Earth. While I was initially planning for the project to be completed by Summer of this past year, I ran into a huge creative block and, essentially, halted the project. So, as of right now, I don’t have an end date in mind, but I am definitely motivated to get back into active development this coming year!

Second, I actually worked on a small portion of the Arcane University Skyrim Modding Project, “Henantir’s Steamcrag”. This is something I actually did complete but, as of right now, isn’t officially released. I’m unsure if the project will ever be released at this point but my contribution to it taught be so much about, not just the Creation Kit, but Level Design in general and am extremely grateful to be a part of it.

The last big project I started working on was my own game being created in the Godot Engine. However, it isn’t the project I announced last year (although that game is currently in early development). This game is called “I’m Awesome”. As of right now, I have the first level designed and I just need to get music created and implemented. I’ll post some very beginner-level art down below.

As far as gaming goes, I’ve played a lot of Civilization VI, got all achievements for Fallout: New Vegas, completed Shadow of the Erdtree, survived the horrors of Silent Hill in the Silent Hill 2 remake (my personal Game of the Year), and started my adventure as Indiana Jones! On top of that, I pledged this past month that I’d start collecting every single Pokémon and obtain them all. Right now, I have about 278 or so. I’ll be starting next year with the end of Indiana Jones and the start of the Soul Reaver Remasters.

Now, let’s talk about 2025! Starting out the year, I’ll essentially be working on two projects at once. First one being continued development of “Fallout: Not of Planet Earth” and the second being “I’m Awesome”. The finish of Not of Planet Earth is undetermined, but a Demo to “I’m Awesome” should be coming out within the next couple months! I’ll post here once it’s released.

After “Not of Planet Earth” is completed, I’ll probably start working on “Starfield: Mad Experiments” which is a Quest Mod inspired by the original “Alien” movie. This one will require a LOT of learning because Starfield Modding is an entirely different beast.

Now, onto a project I announced last year that didn’t even start active development this year, “Kingdom of Fire”. This is a project that is being developed not just by me, but a few of my close friends too. MageGoatTea is our Lead Artist for the project and is working on models and environmental assets for Kingdom of Fire. Once we get a bunch of these assets, I’ll be able to start implementing design for levels. Until then, “Kingdom of Fire” is somewhat on the backburner.

So far, that’s all I have planned! I have a lot of ideas, but I’ve also definitely learned from last year to not announce stuff too early because I didn’t really do anything I was initially planning. However, this year is focused on finishing what I have planned! 2024 was a great year outside of Game Development, and 2025 will be so much better! I hope you had a wonderful Holiday Season and that you have an AMAZING 2025!

Oh, one more thing…there is one teeny tiny project I worked on over the course of one day for “The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind”. Now, if you’ve been keeping up with my live streams, you’ll notice I’ve been playing Morrowind off and on again. I’ve modded it with Morrowind Rebirth and Tamriel Rebuilt! However, these two mods don’t necessarily work well together. So, I created a patch to help make Morrowind Rebirth work with Tamriel Rebuilt! Both of these patches are available NOW on Nexus Mods! I can’t wait to see you guys in the streams next year!

End of April 2024 Update!

Hey everyone! Casey here with another Developer’s Update. I don’t have much of an update for you this time around, despite me being a little late with it (lol sorry).

The reason I’m a little late on this update is due to a plethora of reasons, the biggest of which is me being in my best friend’s wedding that took place last weekend! It was a wonderful time and it was one reason I spent some time last month to take some time off and prepare for it. Another reason I took some time off from developing “Not of Planet Earth” is due to the Fallout 4 Next-gen Update.

As you may know, the Fallout 4 Next-gen Update has been making waves in the news for a multitude of reasons. The biggest of which being Fallout London’s delay because the update caused the Fallout 4 Script Extender to become outdated and, essentially, inoperative. Unfortunately, that’s just the way modding goes. Luckily, Not of Planet Earth doesn’t use F4SE so that doesn’t affect my progress. With that being said, I wanted to be 100% sure the update to the Creation Kit didn’t erase my progress. I’ve gone through losing an entire project once already, I definitely don’t want to go through that again.

However, I’m happy to say that I’m completely updated on the Creation Kit and Fallout 4! And I haven’t lose any progress whatsoever. I pretty much predicted this but, again, I wanted to be sure. Now, I’m back to actively developing “Not of Planet Earth”! I may not be doing as many Developer Streams on Twitch/YouTube, but it is actively being developed again.

Lastly, I just wanted to let you all what I’ve been playing this past month. First game I was into was Dragon’s Dogma 2 (which I still have yet to beat). My fiancé has been watching me play it and it’s been wonderful. I can’t wait to continue it! Next game I REALLY got back into was Fallout: New Vegas! Of course, after the Fallout show came out on Prime Video, I got the itch to play it again. So, I started a new playthrough on Xbox! Not only that, I’m proud to say I’ve FINALLY gotten every achievement on Xbox for Fallout: New Vegas! That was probably my most accomplished character I’ve ever made in New Vegas and I’m very happy for it. I’ve also started a new playthrough of Fallout 4 on Xbox when the update dropped! I’m hoping to get all achievements in that game too. Alongside Fallout 4, I also got the itch to play Starfield again. So, I’m simultaneously playing Fallout 4 and Starfield on Xbox currently. And, in a way, I’m Achievement Hunting on both of them!

And that’s about it! I do apologize for being late to send out this update in addition to stalling production of “Not of Planet Earth” but, guess what? We’re BACK BABY! Let’s get back to it! Don’t forget to occasionally catch me on Twitch/YouTube at Nuclear Swords, and I hope you all have a great May and an awesome Memorial Day Weekend! See y’all in June!

End of March 2024 Update!

Howdy folks! Casey back with another update! Not much of an update to give this time around besides what’s been going on with “Henantir’s Steamcrag” and Not of “Planet Earth”.

As far as Henantir’s Steamcrag, my work on my portion of the mod/project has been COMPLETED! I am now an official Arcane Scribe with Arcane University! The mod itself isn’t complete yet, there are still a lot of folks at work, including our merger to get all our levels running together. Once the mod launches (if it launches) then I’ll let you guys know!

As far as Not of Planet Earth? It’s been pretty slow burning yet some big leaps in progress made! I have the base textures of Camp Andromeda’s environment down, some landscaping standouts, dirt paths, map markers, and some basic assets down showcasing the very beginning of what Camp Andromeda will ultimately become. You can check out my latest YouTube Development Stream to see it for yourself!

I’ve also hit a little bit of a creative block, meaning when I get myself to open the engine, it’s tough for me to get going on something concrete. So, I’m going to step back for a week or two, work on an online course and some certification stuff, play some games, then I’ll hopefully be motivated to get back on track!

I hope you all had an awesome March, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, and start of your Spring season! LET’S HOPE FOR SOME WARM WEATHER! I’ll see you all at the end of April!

End of February 2024 Update!

Happy March, folks! Casey here with Nuclear Swords to give you all an update for the end of February! Normally, I like to do these on or around the last day of the month so I’m a day late but you deserve an update anyway!

First off, we’re about one full month into the birth of Nuclear Swords, the small game studio I started/am starting and I’m very excited with the direction we’re heading. So far, we’re about 3 or so people ranging from writing to art. Our weakest field right now is the audio/music department. Nobody on the team has experience using tools outside of microphones for voice recording. However, that won’t discourage us from learning different tools and methods of getting cool music and audio into our projects! Also, our Discord server has been updated to include a ticketing system for bug reporting. There’s still plenty to do in terms of getting this studio up and running but we’re really excited to see where it goes!

That brings me to what the studio will be doing later this year. While this isn’t 100% confirmed yet, we’re strongly considering becoming a part of Pirate Software’s July Game Jam! Themes are decided on the start date, but we figured it’d be good to get experience and our name out there! Look forward to more news on that in the future.

Now, onto the modding news! For the most part, I’ve completed my contribution to Arcane University’s Student Collaborative Project, “Henantir’s Steamcrag”. There may need to be some minor tweaks but it’s relatively done and looks really good! I’ve learned so much in terms of particle use, navmesh, cluttering, optimization, and many more useful methods! In fact, sometime in the future, I may go back and update The Hidden Tomb of Hircine with these new methods to make it look and feel better!

This also means I’m back to work on “Not of Planet Earth”. I’ve landscaped and gotten a general layout of the Observatory placed in a satisfactory arrangement. Also, I’m afraid that, most likely, the mod will not be released by Summer. There’s still SO much to do and, with Spring approaching, Summer is seeming much less likely. However, don’t forget that I will be posting updates monthly on the mod’s progress, so remain optimistic! I’m very excited about where this is going, especially with Fallout: London and the Fallout Prime TV Show releasing next month!

That’s all I got for now, folks! I hope you had an awesome February and I’ll see you again at the end of March! Have a Happy St. Patrick’s Day and, if I don’t see you by then, a Happy Easter!

End of January 2024 Update!

Howdy folks! Casey here with your End of January 2024 Update! I have about two things to share with you this month. I know, it isn’t a lot but these posts will likely be a lot shorter now that we’re doing these on a monthly basis.

First thing’s first, what I’ve been working on this month. I’m sorry to say I haven’t worked at all on “Not of Planet Earth”. However, the reason I haven’t worked on it is because I haven’t had ANY time to do so while working on my part in the Arcane University Student Collaborative Project, “Henantir’s Steamcrag”. I announced a month ago that I would be working in this project and it sure has been quite the learning experience! Halfway through February, I’ll be finished with that then I’ll get back to work on “Not of Planet Earth”.

The last thing I’d like to share is more of an idea than it is reality right now. I’ve decided to create a Game Developer Studio/Team! Right now, I have a Twitter account along with a total revamp of my Discord Server to reflect the team! This Studio/Community will be responsible for creating Mods in the Creation Engine and entirely new games made in other engines, such as Game Maker Studio. Again, this is more of an idea than it is reality right now, but this is an idea I’m very passionate about. Oh, I almost forgot…the name! This new studio will be called “Nuclear Swords”! Inspired by my two favorite game franchises, Fallout and The Elder Scrolls, Nuclear Swords will start off as a small team of just a few people and I’m hoping it’ll grow into something really special! In fact, I’ll drop the logo down below!

Thanks for checking in with me this month, and I’ll see you at the end of February!
